WATCH: Tim Weah makes history with USMNT’s first goal at the 2022 World Cup

USMNT star Timothy Weah has entered his country’s record books for his goal contribution in Monday night’s clash with Wales. The 22-year-old winger scored in the first half of the encounter to become the first player born in the 2000s to score at the World Cup for the North Americans.

The goal arrived in the 31st minute after Weah slipped through the Welsh defense following a swift counterattack. The Lille attacker latched onto a brilliant through ball from Christian Pulisic and toe-poked it past Wales goalie Wayne Hennessey.

Before the goal, Wales had comfortably managed the game with a very defensive 5-3-2 low block set-up. The USMNT had enjoyed a majority of the possession but had been unable to break down the defence of the Dragons. Watch the goal below:
