Audu Nuhu, ex chairman of Nasarawa Amazons FC, dies after brief illness


– Audu Nuhu who was former chairman of Nasarawa Amazons FC is dead – Nuhu was also the ex boss of Nigerian topflight club Nasarawa United

– He died after a brief illness in his palace in Lafia on Monday, March 4 The Nigerian football fraternities have been thrown into serious mourning on Monday, March 4, following the death of Audu Nuhu who was the chairman of Nasarawa Amazons Football Club.

Alhaji Audu Nuhu was said to have been battling with an unknown sickness since last year before he passed on in his house in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Nigerian Sports reporter Adams Jesse took to social media immediately Audu Nuhu died on Monday morning to break the news. Jesse who is based in Nasarawa state that Audu Nuhu was also the monarch of Farin Ruwa Wamba and his death has thrown the community into deep sorrow.

”Honestly, we are still in shocking mood here in Lafia on the death of Alhaji Audu Nuhu who died just few hours ago and I can confirm to you that Nasarawa Amazons will miss him because he was a pillar for the team.

”He has been sick for a while although they refused to reveal the nature of his sickness before I got a call this morning that he is dead,”

Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Nigerian Women Football League board Aisha Falode has commiserated with the family of Audu Nuhu on his demise.

”The NWFL board will greatly miss Alhaji Nuhu for his supports and encouragement as he was in Benin City, Edo State when Nasarawa Amazons won the NWPL title in 2017.

”He wanted to come to Lagos in January during the second edition of the Super 4 but was stopped by his poor health. He was a great football administrator and lover of women’s football,” Falode said in a statement.

Before late Audu Nuhu became the chairman of Nasarawa Amazons, he was the boss of Nigerian topflight club Nasarawa United and was replaced with Isaac Danladi. Last season under Audu Nuhu, Nasarawa Amazons ended as second best after losing the NWPL Super 4 final against Bayelsa Queens in Lagos.
