Ex Rapper, Skales To Feature Cassper Nyovest, Phyno, Sarkodie On Forthcoming Album
Runaway rapper, Skales, will be dropping his third album soon. The album, which will be titled “Mr. Love” and preaches love, will definitely not be a hip-hop material. But the line up of guests, which includes Mzansi MC, Cassper Nyovest, Nigeria’s very own, Phyno and Ghanaian best rapper, Sarkodie, got us swallowing our saliva.
The former EME act, was at an interview with Pulse few days ago. He talks about the forthcoming album and other matters arising.
Recall that sahiphopmag had reported few weeks ago that Cassper Nyovest has songs with a couple Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Airboy, Skepta and Skales. So there’s definitely a collabo! Phyno and Sarkodie, on the other hand, were featured on “The Never Say Never Guy” in 2017. Phyno on a track, “Let Me Love You” and Sarkodie on “Booty Language.”
This May Skales released the first single off the album “Pass Me” and it featured Yung L and Endia. Other artists to feature on the album include, Tiwa Savage, Vanessa Mdee and Teni the Entertainer. Meanwhile, he chipped in some talk about “hip hop” and why he quit rapping in the interview. “Honestly, I wasn’t a rapper” He had stated “People just misunderstood me based on my first single. I have always wanted to sing and rap, but when I signed to my first label at the time, they just wanted me to rap because rap was getting attention at that point” Then, they further asked him why he thinks rap ain’t getting attention now and he replied; “I feel like people are always quick to judge rappers, but if a rapper is holding a show, how many people will go watch? Because one has to be real, we want to bring hip-hop back, but do we support hip-hop?” Also adding that he feels no one can blame a rapper who switches, ’cause he needs to feed his family.
In related news, rapper, Ycee who was recently a guest on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio, just announced the release of his debut album, “Ain’t Nobody Badder Than” slated for September. Meanwhile, this month, he’ll be touring Canada.
