Mode 9 Pulls A Beyonce As He Drops “Long Story Short” EP
Who would have thought, Veteran Nigerian rapper, Mode 9, would drop a new project in 2018? This
brings a lot of excitement to the rap community, no one would have imagined it. But dropping surprise projects seem to be a trend now.
After Falz dropped his’ in October 2017, M.I followed suit in February 2018. And now Modo 9, probably the most gifted Nigeria rapper to ever rock a microphone, is the next to pull a Beyonce. The new one is an EP, titled “Long Story Short”. “Long Story Short” is a 5-track collaboration with experienced hip-hop producer, Kid Konnect. The songs on this short compilation were recorded as far back as 2007, when he and Kidd konnect met online. He made this know to us via an Instagram post a few days ago. This is not necessarily a conceptual project, or anything that is overtly exceptional. But it’s another one of Mode 9’s off-cut specials that you really need to check out. Recall that, the “Elbow Room” rapper, announced his retirement from the Nigerian music industry after his poorly received 2016 album “Insulin”. It mean this compilation was recorded even before his 2008 “Deathblow”. Deathblow is undoubtedly the most superior rap beef record in Nigerian hip hop history. Modo spent time explaining when Ruggedman sucked. He took Ruggedman apart. And the rap artistry on display was a beauty.
No one has dissed Mode Nine since then. You want to be his friend rather than an enemy. Although for the sake of publicity stunts, we expect a new rapper to do a beef record aimed at Modo now and then.
